SAIL Recruitment 2019: Steel Authority of India or SAIL invites applications from eligible candidates to join its Bhilai Steel Plant as non- executives. It includes positions such as OCT Trainee (123 posts), ACT  Trainee/ Boiler Operator (53), Mining Foreman (14) and  Mining Mate (30).

Additionally, other positions include Surveyor (4), Sub Fire Station Officer Trainee (8), Fireman cum Fire Engine Driver (36), Jr. Staff Nurse Trainee (21) and Pharmacist(7). Interested and eligible candidates can apply online between 25.10.2019 and 15.11.2019. Let’s see the eligibility conditions:

Eligibility Conditions for SAIL Recruitment 2019- OCT trainees and others

Age limit

To be eligible for the SAIL recruitment 2019, candidates must be aged between 18 years and 20 years. For SC/ST and OBC candidates, the maximum age limit is relaxable by 5 years, while persons with disabilities (PwD) get relaxation of 10 years.

Candidates also need to possess some minimum physical standard like height (155cm), weight (45kg) and chest measurement (75cm to 79 cm on expansion). For female candidates, it is 143cm, 35 kg and 70-73 cm respectively.

Similarly. for candidates applying for Sub Fire Station Officer Trainee and Fireman cum Fire Engine Driver, the physical parameters are different. For them, the height is 165cm, Weight 50kg and Chest measurement 81 to 85 cm on expansion.

Educational Qualification for Operator-cum-Technical Trainee-Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, Metallurgy, Instrumentation & Electronics

Candidates need a Pass in Matriculation and 3-year Diploma in Engineering in respective trade with 50% marks.

Educational Qualification for Operator-cum-Technical Trainee-Fitter, Welder, Electrician, Drill Operator, Heathman & Boiler Operator

Matriculation with ITI in relevant trade.

Selection Process for SAIL recruitment 2019

The selection process for the recruitment begins with an Online Test with a minimum qualification score of 50% (and 40% for SC/ST/PwD candidates).

Then, the qualifying candidates must appear for a Skill Test/Physical Ability Test and Driving Test. The last mentioned is for qualifying candidates for Sub Fire Station Officer and Fireman cum Fire Engine Driver trades.

Final selection will be based on the candidate’s overall performance in these tests.

How to Apply

To appear for the online test, all candidates, except SC/ST/PwD/ESM, must pay a fee of Rs.250/-(Two hundred fifty only)

Candidates can apply only through SAIL’s official website i.e., For paying the examination fee using the Sail website through net banking/credit card/debit card and obtain an e-receipt and take a print-out too.

Get ready with following documents while filing the application

  • e-receipt of the fee paid- to fill in the details in the application form
  • Your passport size photograph- to be uploaded along with the application

At this stage, you need not upload any other documents.

SAIL will make available the Admit card on its website which you can download when ready.
